“What would happen if we used videogame mechanisms as new tools to solve urban problems and create urban simulations?” The project questions the future scenarios of the Canal Istanbul project. It aims to look at the issues thought to be caused by this mega-project, which could affect Istanbul’s historical heritage, ecology, and urban macro form. The scenario layout consists of levels, each referring to alternative urban simulations and digital personas representing them. In the era of technological developments, the tools and methods we use in our architectural practices are transforming accordingly. This change allows us to re-interpret our approach to architecture and representation methods. This study aims to explore the potential of videogame mechanisms in the field of architecture. We can think of video games as complex systems that combine various disciplines. It is shaped by combining many data such as scenario design, UI design and creation of digital spaces. Project aims to evaluate and map Canal Istanbul according to ecological and social aspects and to experience the scenarios that can develop through the game platform.Citizens can realize a possible dystopian fiction, which may not be understood enough with architectural drawings, thanks to video games. Thus citizens can create a shared consciousness in the city. Each player is expected to make choices based on their own will. These choices make us travel in time and experience the future city in different personas. Each of these personas has been chosen considering that they will be affected by the Canal Istanbul project. This strategy and running game are modelled as low-poly so gamers can play it. The videogame begins with the time travel of local farmer, European Ground Squirrel, and Cormorant Bird, who are actors living in Istanbul today, to 2050 The characters slowly observe the surroundings and try to understand the “New City.” While avatars are trying to survive, personas are trying to solve the mystery of what happened to their world over the years. The purpose of us players here is to send some tools to guide the personas to ensure their survival and to ensure that they can reach their homes safely.
